Lake Malawi African Cichlids

Goliad Farms, LP raises a large and growing variety of healthy, well-conditioned Lake Malawi African cichlids in our indoor, climate-controlled facilities. For general information concerning Lake Malawi African cichlids, click here.

We raise both "pure" species and aquarium strains of Lake Malawi cichlids. Aquarium strain fish are often of uncertain parentage and certainly do not reflect fish in the wild, but they are often more brightly colored and are popular. In the table below, the "pure" species are indicated by a genus and species in italics. For aquarium strains that are derived from know species, the species name in italics is listed followed by a common name in single quotes. Albinos of the "zebras" fall into this latter category, as do color strains that we have developed. For aquarium strains of uncertain or hybrid parentage, no species name is listed, instead only a common name is provided. The table below lists the Lake Malawi African cichlids Goliad Farms produces. Click on the name of a variety for specific information about that particular variety.
