Goliad Farms, Inc. Goliad Farms, Inc. is a specialty tropical fish hatchery (click here for information about us). We sell primarily to tropical fish wholesalers and retailers; educational institutions such as universities and zoos; and non-profit tropical fish clubs for group purchases and/or auctions. When you visit one of our retailers, please ask if they have any of our fish in stock. NOTICE! We are completely redoing our website to accommodate retail sales, but due to the large number of pages and significant content, it will take some time to complete. In the interim, you will notice two different page styles. This is only temporary. Please excuse our mess while we reconstruct our website. Because of consistent and insistent hobbyist demand we now sell fish at retail. Please see our Products page for pricing and terms and conditions or contact us at goliadfish@goliadfarms.com for information. Wholesale pricing is available for qualified tropical fish wholesalers and retailers; educational institutions such as universities and zoos; and non-profit tropical fish clubs by contacting us at goliadfish@goliadfarms.com. This website provides information about the fish we raise. Goliad Farms spawns and raises all the fish it sells except for, in a few cases, when we purchase specific fish from partners to grow out for sale. For example, we have found that is it more cost-efficient to purchase angels from one of our partners. Angels require distinctively different water conditions for spawning than we can easily supply, so we farm out the spawning to our partner. We then receive the fish for growing out. Even soft water spawners seem to grow better, once the fry are large enough to move, in our hard, alkaline water. Our experiences with this parallel those of the premier Discus breeders such as Jack Wattley, who spawns his fish in soft, acidic water but moves them into harder water for growing out. Below is a sample of fish raised by Goliad Farms. The left photo is a five-month old Blue OB Peacock cichlid male just beginning to color up. The middle photo is mature (ten to twelve months old) male Goldwag Sailfin Molly. The right photo is a mature male Melanotaenia praecox rainbowfish.
